From Rose of Tralee to European Parliament:
Maria Walsh’s Inspiring Journey
Born in Boston to Irish parents, Maria Walsh’s journey to national prominence began when she was crowned the Rose of Tralee in 2014. Our collaboration with Maria has been a testament to her dedication to social activism, charity work, and creating positive change.
We had the privilege of working with Maria on her inspiring ‘Trek to Tralee’ Campaign, a 242km journey from her hometown of Shrule to Tralee. This initiative aimed to create awareness for three charities, showcasing Maria’s commitment to making a difference in the world.
Building Awareness with Mellon Educate
We invited Maria to join the Mellon Educate volunteers in Cape Town, where we collaborated to create awareness for the organization’s impactful work. This partnership laid the foundation for a continued collaboration as Maria sought to extend her influence to the political arena.
Media Campaign for MEP Candidacy
Drawing on her strong media profile, social activism, and charity work, Maria Walsh decided to run as a candidate for the European Parliament in the Midlands/North-West constituency. She entrusted Craigie Communications to run her media campaign, a responsibility we embraced with enthusiasm.
Our team managed a comprehensive media campaign that spanned over 14 counties, generating extensive national coverage. From national debates on radio and television to regular press releases, interviews, and strategic events throughout the constituency, we ensured Maria’s key messages reached a broad audience.
A Seat Well Earned
Maria’s tireless efforts and the strategic execution of the media campaign resulted in her winning a seat for Fine Gael in the Midlands-North-West constituency of the European Parliament. It was a proud moment for Maria, for us, and for everyone who believed in her journey.
